<p><strong>Are you the Data Engineer to make it happen?</strong></p>
<p><strong>About the role:</strong><br/>
As our (<strong>Senior) Data Engineer for Martech</strong>, you’ll turn raw customer, store, and receipt data into trusted, reusable semantic models that fuel segmentation, real-time triggers, and measurable outcomes. And you’ll provide the ability for the business to understand and analyse those outcomes — helping us deliver a best-in-class omnichannel customer experience.</p>
<p>You play a key role in ensuring that data is readily available for our modern analytics and AI solutions, presenting it in a format these applications can truly understand. By doing so, you act as an enabler and accelerator for the efficient and high-quality utilization and use of data, making it easier for our business to harness its full potential in innovative ways.</p>
<p>This role will start working with the Martech transformation project team – developing data pipelines but also drawing the big picture -- future-proofing the architecture for 2026–2030 and beyond.</p>
<p>Going forward, there will be an opportunity to develop other areas of, as well as working with tech features like Snowflake AI services.</p>
<p>You will be part of Kesko’s central Data & Analytics Platforms team, collaborating with expert & supportive colleagues in the platforms as well as other domain-focused data engineers. Your daily work will be with Marketing Technology IT and business teams.</p>

<p><strong>Your main responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Designing, building and optimizing data pipelines and models:</strong> Use Snowflake, dbt, and other tools to create scalable data integrations to and from the Marketing Automation tool </li>
<li><strong>Collaboration and consulting:</strong>
Work closely with domain experts to translate business needs into data solutions, advise on best practices, and support others in using the data platform. </li>
<li><strong>Implementing data management & governance:</strong> Establish sound data practices – from documenting lineage and using data catalogues to setting up quality checks – to ensure we trust and understand our data. </li>
<li><strong>Continuous improvement:</strong>
Keep an eye on new tech and techniques. Continuously improve performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability of our data solutions.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>To succeed in this role, you should have:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Strong experience in data engineering</strong> with modern cloud data platforms. Hands-on expertise in <strong>Snowflake</strong> is required. <strong>Proficiency with dbt</strong> for data transformations and SQL for data analysis/manipulation. You can write efficient SQL and have solid data modelling skills. Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines in a data context.</li>
<li><strong>Interest in Marketing:</strong>
background in Marketing Automation tools (like Braze and Salesforce) is a bonus, but an understanding of the business processes and the data involved in them is needed. You will be helping to guide the future.</li>
<li><strong>Background in data warehousing/ETL:</strong> You have designed or maintained data pipelines. Experience with traditional SQL Server-based ETL or integration is beneficial, as it helps in understanding our legacy environment.</li>
<li><strong>Data management mindset:</strong>
Familiarity with data cataloging, lineage tools, or overall data governance frameworks. You care about documentation and data quality.</li>
<li><strong>Communication:</strong> Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Fluency in <strong>English</strong>
is required (our working language). <strong>Finnish</strong>
language skills are <i>beneficial</i>
but not necessary – our team is international. You can clearly explain complex data topics to both technical and non-technical colleagues.</li>
<li><strong>Self-driven & proactive attitude:</strong> You take initiative to improve things and aren’t afraid to suggest new ideas. You are solution-oriented and able to work independently when needed but also know when to ask for help or input.</li
