We’re actively seeking a talented Visualization Engineer II to join our Finance, Risk & Actuarial Transformation. This role can be fully onsite or hybrid and based in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Visualization Engineer II, you will play a key role in our Finance, Risk, & Actuarial Transformation to advance our reporting and visualization efforts. You will ensure that we remain agile and will be responsible for leveraging industry leading tools to develop robust reporting mechanisms to present data in a clear, actionable format to stakeholders across departments. You will report to the AVP Actuary leading the Actuarial Reporting efforts, support a multidisciplinary team transforming our actuarial processes, and collaborate with the Advanced Analytics team to contribute to the overall visualization strategy.

How you’ll help move us forward:

  • Data Visualization & Reporting
    Craft and refine dashboards that display complex data streams in comprehensible visual formats. Regularly update and adapt reports in line with changing business needs and objectives.

  • Data Modeling
    Support the creation and maintenance conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support new and existing visualizations, ensuring they meet business requirements and align with industry best practices.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    Engage with team members and stakeholders to ascertain their data requirements.

  • Data Integrity Assurance
    Identify and rectify any discrepancies or anomalies in datasets. Collaborate closely with the Analytics Engineering team, data/IT teams, and business stakeholders.

  • Training & Capability Support
    Support training sessions for internal stakeholders as necessary, ensuring optimal utilization. Follow visualization best practices and guidelines for the broader team.

  • Performance & Scalability
    Ensure rapid dashboard responsiveness and efficient report generation. Provide feedback on challenges and opportunities to support growing datasets.

  • Ad hoc reporting needs
    Generates ad hoc reports and regular datasets or report information for end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts.

The experience you bring:

  • Passion for joining a data-driven culture and collaborative visual analytics community.

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related field. 

  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or a similar role.

  • Skilled in data visualization and dashboarding best practices.

  • Skilled in relational and dimensional data modeling concepts and best practices.

  • SQL skill is required.

  • Experience in dbt, or similar data transformation tools, is preferred.

  • Experience in Tableau (certification preferred).

  • Experience in PowerBI (certification preferred).

  • Experience with one or more cloud-based data warehouses is required such as Snowflake.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
