As a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist – Epilepsy Ambulatory at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus, you will serve as an embedded clinical pharmacist within specialty neurology clinics, partnering closely with neurologists, epileptologists, advanced practice providers, nurses and clinic staff to support complex epilepsy patients. This role focuses on longitudinal outpatient care through in-person and virtual visits, therapeutic drug monitoring and evidence-based optimization of anti-seizure medication regimens. You will play a central role in medication safety, patient and caregiver education and shared decision-making while collaborating within small, specialized ambulatory teams. Opportunities to contribute to research, quality improvement initiatives and learner education further distinguish this role within Cleveland Clinic’s nationally recognized Neurological Institute.

A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Routinely and continually provide pharmaceutical care for patients, considering their age and clinical condition. 
  • Provide general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and, and other health care professionals. 
  • Support Clinical Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction and formal educational programs. 
  • Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities. 
  • Educate Clinical Pharmacists, Technicians, Pharmacy Students, Post-Graduate Trainees and other caregivers in Pharmacotherapy within in the specialty area. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy 
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire   
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire (if administering immunizations) 
  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 2 Residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area OR four years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Board certification
