The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled QA and Certification Manager (m/f/d) to lead the design and implementation of the quality, credentialing, and certification framework for the EIT RawMaterials Education portfolio.

This is a role within the Education Team, responsible for ensuring that all Academy programs meet the highest standards of educational quality, compliance, and recognition across Europe.

As the Work Package Lead for Quality and Credentials within the EU Raw Materials Academy and EU Advanced Materials Academy, you will build, maintain and oversee trustworthy systems for programme quality, external recognition, and learner credentialing. You will align to European frameworks, national regulatory requirements, and international quality standards.

Sector-specific experience in raw materials, advanced materials or sustainability is beneficial but not required, as this role centers on educational excellence, formal recognition, and trust.

What You’ll Do

Quality Assurance Leadership

  • Design and implement a comprehensive quality assurance system for all Academy training programs. 
  • Align internal processes with European frameworks (e.g., ESG, EQAVET) and international standards (e.g., ISO) as necessary.
  • Lead internal audits, coordinate external evaluations, and embed continuous improvement cycles in collaboration with content developers and partners. 
  • Define QA metrics and dashboards to monitor program quality.

Program Certification and External Recognition: 

  • Manage institutional and course-level regulation, certification and accreditation processes with external bodies such as (1) German State Central Office for Distance Learning (ZfU) for regulatory approval of fee-based distance learning in Germany, (2) national or international accreditation agencies, and (3) Certification bodies conducting audits against ISO standards. 
  • Ensure all QA documentation and certification cycles (initial approval, renewal, and audit follow-up) are maintained and compliant. 
  • Represent the Academies in external audits and liaise with regulatory and accrediting agencies to maintain institutional recognition. 
  • The successful candidate will ensure that all courses of the Academies can build and issue credentials, and that most, if not all, are certified by an internationally recognized certification body or in accordance with international standards.

Certification and Credentialing

  • Design and manage the credentialing architecture for all Academy courses, ensuring that learning outcomes are expressed in accordance with relevant frameworks European Digital Credentials for Learning (EDC), Europass and the European Learning Model (ELM), EU Council Recommendation on Micro-credentials for Lifelong Learning and Employability, European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and sector-relevant national frameworks. 
  • Develop internal processes for issuing and verifying micro-credentials, digital badges, or certificates of completion that demonstrate skill acquisition. 
  • Ensure interoperability and verifiability of learner credentials.

Regulatory and Standards Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), BFSG and related provisions implementing the European Accessibility Act in Germany, and the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), ensuring transparent and ethical use of AI in education. 
  • Maintain auditable records, policies, and procedural documentation. 
  • Work with legal, IT, and instructional design teams to ensure that compliance requirements are built into program workflows from the start.
