About the role

This Leadership Coach supports the development of a leadership coaching program within the Jones Center for Leadership and Service (JCLS). This position works directly with undergraduate and graduate students to provide individualized, group, and peer-to-peer coaching experiences that support leadership identity, efficacy, and capacity necessary for personal, academic, civic/career outcomes. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this position partners closely with JCLS professional staff to build coaching frameworks, design program infrastructure, and contribute to a culture of intentional leader and leadership development across campus. This position also supports faculty and staff training initiatives, including programs centered on coach-like approaches to leadership and service.

Coaching & Program Development:

  • Support the design and implementation of a leadership coaching program serving undergraduate and graduate students

  • Provide individualized leadership coaching sessions with students focused on developing leadership identity, capacity, and efficacy

  • Facilitate group coaching experiences that build community and shared leadership capacity among student participants

  • Develop training/programs focused on increasing capacity in students for peer-to-peer leadership coaching in leadership and service contexts

  • Partner with the Assistant Director to develop session structures and program infrastructure

  • Integrate evidence-based coaching tools and assessments, including CliftonStrengths, into coaching practice as appropriate

  • Support the design and facilitation of training for faculty, staff, and student leaders

  • Maintain a consistent coaching caseload and manage scheduling, documentation, and follow-up for coaching relationships consistent with the leadership coaching professional practice

  • Guide students in establishing and achieving leadership and personal development goals through structured coaching relationships

Training & Facilitation:

  • Oversee design and deliver training sessions on leadership coaching topics for undergraduate and graduate students

  • Support the facilitation of programs centered on coach-like approaches to leadership and service

  • Collaborate with JCLS staff to develop and continuously improve training curriculum and facilitation materials

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on coaching philosophy, methodology, and practice within the department consistent with the International Coaching Federation

  • Stay current on emerging leadership development theories, coaching practices, and professional certifications relevant to the role

  • Represent JCLS in facilitation and training capacities at campus events, retreats, and programs as needed

Strategic Planning & Assessment

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of an assessment framework to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the leadership coaching program, including utilizing the GLEAD Dynamic Leadership Assessment

  • Collect and analyze data on student coaching engagement, progress, and outcomes to inform program improvements

  • Assist with department strategic planning and implementation of initiatives that directly support the leadership and service goals of the University and Division

  • Contribute to department-wide assessment efforts to evaluate student learning, student development, and stakeholder perceptions

  • Identify trends and recommend improvements to coaching program structures, resources, and delivery methods

  • Contribute to publications and communications, including website content, that highlight the coaching program and its outcomes

     

Leadership & Outreach:

  • Collaborate with university and community partners to advance leadership coaching as a complement to curricular and co-curricular programs

  • Cultivate relationships with key campus stakeholders to build awareness of and identify students who may benefit from the leadership coaching program

  • Conduct outreach and engagement efforts to increase student awareness of and participation in leadership coaching programs and services<
