Job Description Summary:

The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks a nurse educator for a faculty role in the baccalaureate nursing program on the Salina, Kansas campus. This full-time (9-month appointment), non-tenure earning faculty position reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs & Department Chair.

Job Description:

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate nursing students in a variety of courses and settings (didactic courses, online courses, clinical settings, simulation, and clinical laboratory settings) in the undergraduate nursing program. 

• Participate in ongoing course and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation activities.

• Participate in service-related activities (serving on committees/task forces, mentoring students, assigning clinical placements, etc.) to support the mission of the school.

• Collaborate with other KU nursing faculty on both campuses.

• Develop and implements special projects as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate nursing degree (Master’s or Doctorate).

Certification/License:

• Possess a registered nurse (RN) license from the Kansas State Board of Nursing (or be eligible for a RN license in Kansas).

Work Experience:

• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally (verbal and written).

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

• Teaching experience in a nursing program

• Experience teaching in a simulation laboratory setting.

• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating courses; and the overall baccalaureate curriculum.

• Experience serving as or working with clinical preceptors.

• Healthcare experience working in rural areas.
