Job Description

NBC Universal is looking for a highly motivated and professional individual to join the Production Engineering team as the Manager, Project Engineering for NBCU Operations and Technology (O&T), based at Telemundo Center in Miami, FL. O&T supports Enterprise Technology, Broadcast, and Production systems across NBCU globally. 

You will have the opportunity to lead a team of engineers and systems integrators, responsible for the design, documentation, and delivery of projects for production systems in the Telemundo Center facility. This includes physical infrastructure, video, audio, transmission, and postproduction systems, and will heavily partner with the project, integration, and maintenance teams at all NBCU locations.

This role is right for you if you are people-oriented, and have experience leading a small team of project engineers through all aspects of design, to deliver complex solutions to support production. The successful candidate will have a hands-on-approach to mentorship and training, have a keen eye for detailed documentation and be able to set and enforce business standards to ensure quality-of-work delivered on time and on budget.

  • Build strong relationships with internal partner teams across the company both in person and remotely, to achieve project goals.
  • Acquire understanding of modern data center and infrastructure design, including power management and redundancy, cooling, fiber standards, cabling and connector types, racking and space planning.
  • Build rapport with a team of diverse skillsets, organizing and prioritizing multiple projects. 
  • Strong leadership, and the ability to correct, coach and motivate the team through formal and informal mentoring.
  • Assist the team in outlining objectives, requirements, design approaches and project steps to enable success.
  • Recommend and provide training to ensure that current team skillset matches business needs.
  • Be the design lead for delivering our capital project portfolio, from requirements gathering through systems commissioning and maintenance hand off.
  • Overall project schedule forming and reporting out for stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Proactively look for opportunities for improvement in standards and technical innovation.
  • Actively assist in estimate and cost modelling for internal budget, client projects and long-range planning.
  • Work with vendor teams, promoting a strong Voice of the Customer, to define requirements and deliver scalable, reusable solutions that creatively solve business challenges, add measurable value, and ensure alignment to the business strategic roadmap.
  • Recommend and provide training to ensure that current team skillset matches business needs.
  • Collaborate with integration and maintenance engineering teams on project development, specifications, and best practices.
  • Provide support to onsite teams as required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience in engineering design and systems integration.
  • Broadcast production experience a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar project and task management software.
