We are a highly professional and ambitious team with a strong team spirit. In this role, you will partner with many internal and external stakeholders globally, including the German and broader European credit business, Credit Risk, Product, Marketing, and Sales, PayPal Europe's authorized managers, and PayPal's team in Luxembourg. Success in this role means becoming the business's trusted advisor and subject matter expert on regulatory and product advice for the credit space.<p></p><p><b>Job Description:</b></p><p><b>Your way to impact</b></p><p>As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will directly influence the development and success of PayPal's credit products in Germany and other European markets. Your expertise will ensure that PayPal's credit products in Germany comply with evolving regulatory requirements. By providing strategic legal guidance and embedding a solid business understanding, you will help shape product features and drive PayPal's growth in the credit market, ultimately enhancing our customer experience.</p><p></p><p><b>Your day-to-day </b></p><p>In your day-to-day role, you will:</p><ul><li>Perform legal analysis of new product features of German European consumer and merchant credit and other financial services products.</li><li>Conduct due diligence on complex regulatory topics and support decision-making processes within PayPal.</li><li>Analyse new European credit laws and their impact on PayPal's German and European credit products.</li><li>Collaborate with teams of other PayPal in-house attorneys, personnel, and outside advisors (including outside counsel).</li><li>Advise and work closely with key stakeholders, including senior executives, Product, Credit Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Treasury, Tax, Accounting, and business functions.</li><li>Handle ad-hoc requests and projects as required.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>What do you need to bring</b></p><ul><li>A recognized German law degree and at least 5-7 years experience practicing either in-house (or in an equivalent setting) or at a reputable law firm, ideally focusing on consumer credit law and payments laws. Expertise in structured finance is a plus.</li><li>Maturity, self-motivation, independence, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.</li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadl
