Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

As a Capital One Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. 

 

What You’ll Do: 

• Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity

• Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of people achieve financial empowerment

• Utilize programming languages like JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Kotlin

• Interact with databases built with SQL and Open Source RDBMS solutions

• Implement, manage and maintain container orchestration services including Docker with ECS Fargate, and a variety of other AWS tools and services

• Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities

• Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift 3rd party libraries, etc.)

• Influence and contribute to group discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from the broader team

• Mentor junior to mid-level members of the team

• Actively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.)

• Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with Senior Engineers and Architects

• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community

• Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions

• Review pull requests and ensure adherence to community best practices

 

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years writing microservices using Java, Kotlin, or NodeJS

• 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks (such as: Spring Boot, NestJS)

• 2+ years of experience building iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) applications

• 3+ years of experience in Agile practices

• 2+ years of experience with AWS

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $161,900 - $184,800 for Senior Software Engineer

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
