Area Leader

Area Leader is a leadership role focused on building fully engaged and competent teams that deliver results in line with the area performance goals in a safe and efficient way. Area Leaders provide leadership to the plant operations team and act as the primary back-up to the Unit Manager.  


Your key responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the safety of the Front End processes and personnel
  • Partners with the Unit Manager, EHS coordinator, and the First Line Leaders to drive a strong personal safety, process safety, and environmental improvement plan to achieve EH&S goals and ensure compliance with regulatory and permit requirements.  
  • Embraces and role models DuPont Core Values 
  • Communicates performance goals, metrics and outcomes within area to meet production goals and the customers’ needs safely and efficiently 
  • Promotes commitment and ownership to Operational Excellence by engaging team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, eliminate waste and remove barriers; Uses lean and digital tools effectively 
  • Has direct responsibility for Technical Advisors and First Line Leaders with indirect responsibility for Operators.
  • Hires, retains and develops talent to meet current and future capabilities; Promotes a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment 
  • Coaches, develops, and provides performance feedback to team members to build capabilities, align on expectations and overall team effectiveness; Uses reward and recognition to drive the right behaviors and results 
  • Partners with leaders to stay informed of the business strategy and needs; Pivots as needed to deliver business value 
  • Continuously works to improve the total cost of production (raw material, conversion cost and activity rate, etc.).   Takes a leadership role in maintaining the budget.
  • Organizes area resources to drive performance; Completes administrative requirements timely and efficiently 
  • Knows the site/unit/area products, our customers and their requirements​ 
  • Uses business knowledge and cost modeling tools to build cases and evaluate needs/opportunities 
  • Primary sponsor of area Operational Discipline ​ 
  • Interprets and applies basic engineering principles 
  • Solves simple and complex technical problems while balancing speed/risk/reward 
  • Creates an environment of accountability for meeting agreed-upon expectations​ 
  • Uses management systems to monitor the organization’s performance against goals  
  • Energizes the organization by clarifying the broader purpose and importance of the work​

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of manufacturing or production experience
  • Influential People leadership experience
  • Lean Six Sigma methodologies 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Engineering, Supply Chain 
  • Six Sigma/Lean Practitioner, preferred
