We are looking for a Program Manager (Value Stream Leader) to lead the Air Combat Test & Training United States Air Force and International Portfolio within the Collins Simulation and Training business. The role works onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where you will be responsible for the program, cost, schedule, and performance deliveries.  Collaboration will be required with all shared services to include Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Subcontracts, and Business Development to exceed customer expectations and uphold the organization's core values. This role has both operational, strategic, and customer interface accountability for successful program execution and excellence.   

What You Will Do

  • Drive accountability for the day-to-day leadership to include both direct employees and matrix employees as influencing the values and behaviors of adhering to customer objectives and goals to include financial planning and deployment of initiatives

  • The role is accountable for setting, designing, and executing the short, mid-range, and long-term objectives and strategies set forth in alignment with the customer and Simulation and Training business unit

  • You will drive the daily to yearly talent development, growth, recruiting, performance management and coaching/training for the team. Additionally, the individual will empower themselves as a leader of leaders to hold themselves accountable for their own portion of the business

  • Lead and execute growth needs and strategy for new business through communicating initiatives and inspiring change within the programs. Required tasks will include leading strategy and pursuits.

  • Communicate, engage, and manage customer program reviews, Value Stream Macro Plan for programs, off-site meetings etc. with all levels of the Value Stream and Customer leadership

  • Lead, manage, develop and sustain trust-based relationships with internal and external customer representative(s). Practice exceptional change management to ensure execution ability to meet milestones, scope and budget

  • Partner with other site leaders that execute program work at the various sites through communicating, collaborating, and negotiation of program contractual requirements

  • Develop new concepts that break new ground through innovation and challenging status quo to build new business for the portfolio and program

  • Champion development of top talent, providing opportunities to brief executive leadership on program performance. Promotes a One Team mentality – celebrating success and accountability across the team

  • Travel required up to 25%

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

  • Experience leading a strategic program through all phases of execution for our military customers

  • Experience leading program/project teams

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Active and Existing Secret Security Clearance Preferred

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, manufacturing environment

  • Strong people leadership and organization skills

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is strongly preferred
