About the Position: 

CSUF University Extension collaborates with academic departments and colleges on unique, self-supporting programs for domestic and international students. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Instructional Designer (Information Technology Consultant – Foundation). This position will provide instructional design and technology support for a large, complex portfolio of self-supporting credit and non-credit programs. This position is ideal for candidates with foundational knowledge in instructional design and technology who are eager to grow their expertise in a supportive academic environment. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity.

The Instructional Designer supports the development and delivery of high-quality instructional content and learning experiences for University Extension's flexible and continuing education programs. Under direct supervision, the Instructional Designer collaborates with faculty, subject matter experts, and academic staff to assist in designing, developing, and improving instructional materials for a variety of delivery formats, including online, hybrid, and in-person courses. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field or four years relevant full-time experience or an associate’s degree in a related field with two years of relevant full-time experience.

Basic knowledge of the specialty work area demonstrated by an understanding and use of general principals and terminology. Demonstrated understanding of the standard technology and systems in place with the capability of supporting and operating the technology. Ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and refer to appropriate party for resolution. Ability to solve problems where precedents exist and acquire knowledge in related specialties. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
