Job Title: Associate Director - Residential Life - 994557 Location: Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Florida Work Type: Full Time with Full Benefits Job Category: Exempt Hiring Range: $59,000.00 Pay Basis:

Annually

Subject to Grant Funding?: No   Essential Job Functions: 1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of direct reports and staff,
including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating. Oversees the supervision of
student staff.

2. Designs the training and development of student staff.

3. Fosters leadership and development of students in residential communities while
supporting our Residential Hall Association.

4. Participates in an on-call emergency duty rotation throughout the year (evenings and
weekends), including academic breaks.

5. Supports students with emotional/behavioral concerns through crisis intervention,
conflict mediation, disciplinary meetings and referrals.

6. Oversees Residential Life committees and supports committee chairs

7. Represents the Office of Residence Life and collaborates with campus partners.

8. Communicates policies and procedures to relevant stakeholders.

9. Assists with university and departmental student retention initiatives.

10. Acts as Chief Residential Life Officer in the absence of the Director.

11. Completes other projects as assigned.

12. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Job Functions: 1. Facilitates annual revisions of departmental manuals/procedures/policies and other
marketing and training materials.
2. Assists with summer operations and task within the residential areas
3. Serves on University Committees and participates in professional activities.
4. Assists with assessing the success of Residential Life programs and
research/benchmark for the Office.
5. Supports Director in training and onboarding new staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of student affairs and student activities programs.
2. Administration and Management - Thorough knowledge of business and management
principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, leadership
techniques, and/or coordination of people and resources.
3. Personnel and Human Resources - Thorough knowledge of principles and procedures
for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and supervision.
4. Commitment to higher education and student success.
5. Consistent demonstration of high professional standards in work with students,
colleagues, and community.

Skills:
1. Active Listening - Expert skills in giving full attention to what other people are saying,
taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate,
and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
