Job Description

The Massachusetts Data Pathways project has an opening for a part-time Senior Training & Technical Assistance Associate, reporting to the project’s Principal Investigator, in Waltham, MA. This position will work 12 hours per week.

EDC has received a 3-year grant from the state of Massachusetts to promote data science education pathways for students in grades K-16 within the state, with a particular focus on supporting these pathways in low-income and historically marginalized communities. The Data Pathways project will develop both classroom and out-of-school activities and resources for students, families, teachers, and school administrators in Massachusetts to learn data practices that are essential for living and working in today’s data-filled world, and to gain awareness of pathways to careers involving data science skills.

The project seeks a Senior Training & Technical Assistance Associate to help recruit school district and industry partners for the project, develop and manage school district and industry relationships, and oversee the design and implementation of activities to connect educators and students with industry partners. The position will also involve the iterative design and testing of work-based learning experiences for educators and students with businesses and industries. The opportunity offers someone with a passion for helping students, schools, and families connect with exciting career pathways in the growing field of data science.

You will:

  • Recruit school districts and industry partners to participate in the Data Pathways project 
  • Build and maintain partner relationships between school districts and participating businesses
  • Conceptualize and oversee the design of activities that connect educators and students with industry partners, including work-based learning experiences and regional career exploration fairs
  • Manage iterative testing and refinement of student career exploration activities and work-based learning experiences for educators and students
  • Coordinate the development and testing of career engagement activities with curriculum development activities for K-12 schools
  • Develop tools and resources for school districts and industries to implement data science career exploration activities that have been created and refined through this project
  • Contribute to data collection activities, assembly of field-based findings, and dissemination of lessons learned from the project
  • Contribute to written syntheses of project findings for dissemination to educator, business, and public policy audiences

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Education or equivalent combination of education & experience required

Skills & Experience:

  • 5 or more years related experience
  • 1–3 years prior project management or program development experience; demonstrable leadership skills
  • Experience in building community partnerships and group facilitation
  • Skills in cross-cultural communication

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Educational certification in a Communications, Community Development, or related field
  • Multimedia technology skills
