What You Will Do

We’re seeking a motivated, creative 3D Graphics Intern to support our team in creating optimized 3D assets for use in the Unity Engine. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on real-time models, textures, and materials used in interactive applications and visualization tools. You’ll contribute directly to production-ready assets while learning best practices for game-engine-focused modeling and texturing pipelines.

This internship is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both 3D modeling and material creation, and who wants to better understand how assets move from DCC tools into a real-time engine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and refine polygon-based 3D models for use in Unity
  • Develop and apply textures and materials optimized for real-time rendering
  • Assist with UV unwrapping, texture layout, and material organization
  • Support texture creation workflows using tools such as Photoshop and Substance (Painter/Designer)
  • Perform basic retopology and mesh cleanup as needed
  • Ensure assets meet performance, scale, and visual standards for real-time use
  • Collaborate with developers and designers to integrate assets into Unity
  • Participate in asset reviews, iteration, and documentation of workflows

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Game Art, 3D Graphics, Animation, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Fundamental understanding of polygon modeling and UV workflows
  • Familiarity with real-time texturing concepts for game engines
  • Experience using tools such as Photoshop, Substance Painter/Designer, or similar
  • Basic understanding of how 3D assets are used in Unity or other real-time engines

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Attention to detail and willingness to iterate on visual assets
  • Ability to take feedback and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience importing and setting up assets in Unity
  • Familiarity with PBR workflows and texture optimization
  • Exposure to retopology workflows and mesh optimization techniques
  • Background in 2D graphics, graphic design, or interface design
  • Experience with additional tools such as Maya, Blender, or ZBrush
  • Personal projects or portfolio pieces demonstrating real-time assets
