Eaton’s IS VEH VGGP division is currently seeking a Product Development Engineer within 50 miles of Southfield, MI.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.
What you’ll do:
Eaton’s FEPC Team is an organization whose mission is primarily to deliver Fuel and Evaporative Emission components to the market, in support of vehicle launch programs.
This position’s primary function is to perform all Design and Release responsibilities in support of Pro-Launch deliverables for assigned programs. The scope of responsibility is to complete all required testing, communicate with affected customers (internal and external), and support all timing requirements. The technical domain is Fuel and Evaporative Emissions vapor valves technical expertise in support of vehicular applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Coordinates all Product Engineering deliverables in support of vehicle launch programs. These include usage of DFMEA, Boundary Diagrams, DVP&R, PVP&R as well as all DFSS disciplines.
B. Continuously develops commercially viable design solutions for new product opportunities in the Evaporative Emissions / Vapor Valve activity.
C. Contributes to completion of all aspects of the prototype development program including analysis, design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and test.
D. As workload allows, support all Cost Out efforts as well as Tool Moves, Tool Wear Outs, Continuing Engineering and Business Pursuit efforts.
E. Interacts well with Engineering, Design, Testing, Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to accomplish program objectives.
F. Interacts with customers (typically Tier 1 and 2), partner, and supplier organizations (both prototype and production) to accomplish program objectives.
G. Clearly communicates to stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
Preferred/Additional Specialized Knowledge (not required to be qualified for position):
•Master of Science in Engineering from an accredited university.
•A background in fuel system vapor valves
•Experience with Pro/Engineer Creo or SolidWorks CAD modeling software
•4+ years’ experience with Automotive applications
•Experience on Product Development tools such as DFMEA/DVP&R, APQP is preferred
