Job Title: Team Leader I
Base Rate: $26.33/hr. + $1 Shift Diff
Shift: Second Shift
While reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for leading and working hands on along with a team to produce Sonoco Reels in Nail Wood. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have a safety-first mindset with the ability to work within various teams, along with a good eye to spot defects in the work performed. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead a Team of 5-10 employees in a Reels operation.
- Collaborating closely with other departments and teams.
- Making incremental process adjustments, monitor and report quality of manufactured production.
- Identify training needs and execute plan to close gaps.
- Complete employee reviews.
- Consistently providing expected deliverables and required administrative tasks.
- Driving and inspiring team to improve performance to meet and exceed goals.
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to setup new jobs and operate various manufacturing machines.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area, familiarity with 5S a plus.
- Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager and in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.
- Assisting other departments as needed.
Job Requirements - Preferred Experience / Ability
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred, desire previous experience leading a crew/ team or improvement project.
- Written and verbal communication skills; must be able to perform basic computations.
- Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
- Working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions required.
- Demonstrated Mechanical Aptitude with the ability to logically troubleshoot and solve equipment issues required.
- Experience in Leading Continuous Improvement Projects and experience with continuous improvement tools (Sonoco Performance System: SPS) desired.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and lead improvements.
- Working knowledge of Computer Based Programs – Word, Excel, Power Point required.
- Forklift driving experience is a plus.
- Must be open to change.
- Must be forward thinking.
- Must be able to anticipate and react to changing situations.
