Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption.  Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work. 

Job Description

We are excited to launch recruitment for the Vice President, Preclinical Research Administration within SKI. This is a unique opportunity reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer. As the VP, you will have direct responsibility for designing and leading all aspects of the strategic, administrative and operational functions which support the preclinical research strategies. Together with the CSO and other research leadership you will develop the strategy for preclinical research management including operations, research initiatives and scientific staff affairs. Additionally, you are responsible for identifying and allocating revenue streams, and the development of operational policies that support the strategy.

You Will:  

• Work closely with the CSO and Senior Research Staff (e.g., Research Governing Council and Steering Committee) to craft and lead the strategic agenda for Preclinical Research including developing action plans, supervising related projects and advising the CSO & Senior Research Staff in all matters of priority.  
• Be an ongoing and immediate resource for all Preclinical research leaders (e.g. Program chairs, faculty leaders) for identifying and resolving issues, communicating information and/or facilitating required actions. 
• Regularly engage with all levels of the MSKCC community and external constituencies. 
• Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of Preclinical Research Management e.g., Operations, Strategic Initiatives and Faculty Affairs. Ensures activities across preclinical management teams are aligned to the CSO strategies.  
• Collaborate with MSK Research Administration to manage revenue streams and develop business models to support Preclinical Scientific initiatives.  
• Evaluate programmatic growth or changes to operational needs and determines overall staffing needs.  

 

You Need:  

• 10+ years of relevant experience in a healthcare-related field or academic environment 
• Progressive experience in faculty affairs and/ or faculty development is preferred 
• Proven problem-solving skills 
• Exceptional judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential issues.
• Track record of developing strong relationships of trust and confidence with senior leaders, peers, and colleagues. Ability to collaborate, influence, and effectively engage with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
