About the role

Under supervision and personal charge of a licensed pharmacist or dispensing prescriber, and in accordance with standard departmental procedures, the Pharmacy Technician will perform the activities or functions that he or she is licensed or otherwise authorized to perform including assisting in the dispensing, safe storage and distribution of drugs and devices. Bilingual and/or experienced technician preferred but Pharmacy Technician Apprentice program available. The apprentice position is enrolled in a training program to become a licensed Pharmacy Technician and will follow the guidelines and requirements of the training program which include passing score on national certification exam, and application for full state licensure are required within 12 months of hire.

This is a full time non-exempt benefit eligible position, typically working an 8 hour shift between 8a-5p M-Fri and alternating Saturdays 9a-12p monthly

Requirements:

  • Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician license or able to participate and successfully complete Pharmacy Technician Training Program. 
  • Basic Life Support/CPR training according to requirements of license and/or certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Previous experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist or dispensing prescriber. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of practice following departmental procedures and policies as outlined in the department operations manually.
  • Complete training to gain basic knowledge of pharmacy operations, drug therapies, calculations, and preparation of medications for patient consumption.
  • Keep and maintain accurate patient records.
