Position Description:
Polaris Industries, Inc. seeks ePT CAE Engineer, Sr in Novi, MI.
-Analyze the overall vehicle EV system performance and define the specific hardware/software requirements and interface definition.
-Work with the ePT systems owners and technical leads responsible for components to ensure that their control/hardware designs meet the system requirements.
-Involve with the latest battery technology in the Polaris electrified vehicles portfolio for both current and future vehicles.
-Work with a high-performance team and be responsible for directly affecting the quality, durability, and performance of future hybrid, plugin, and battery electric vehicles manufactured by Polaris.
-Lead Integration of EV components within the electrification powertrain system and perform early tradeoff analysis to determine optimized design parameters.
-Perform early ePT systems sizing tradeoffs and support architecture development.
-Own and maintain the overall EV system characterization.
-Perform technical data reviews and support interfacing with suppliers.
-Represent and control interfaces in the system DFMEA and boundary diagrams.
-Assist functional groups with the creation of DVP&Rs based on requirements.
-Make design recommendations and suggest countermeasures for optimizing vehicle range, energy usage, and duty cycle.
-Provide input for risk mitigation strategies and recommend design changes when needed.
-Support validation plan development for model correlation.
-Support system design strategies amongst the engineering design teams, component engineers, and control systems group.
-Manage reporting and documentation including interpretation to peers and leadership.
-Coach and develop other junior engineers.
-Maintain the development of standardized analysis process, support technical specifications, and design requirements development.
-Work in a team-based peer group environment to drive continuous improvement.
-Implement customer-focused Polaris-specific analysis processes and best practices.
-Provide automation and continuous improvement.
Telecommuting permitted, 10% domestic travel required.
Position Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of related experience.
Required experience must include any amount of experience with all of the following:
- 1-D system tools, AMESIM, or GT-Power.
- theory and principles of design of automotive energy storage and propulsion systems
- stage gate product development process, including experimental correlation and product validation.
- Design, quality, and safety process tools including Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis, and/or Hazard Analysis Risk Analysis.
- Adapting tools including Design of Experiments and Pugh Matrix for data-based decision-making.
- Communicating across global cross-functional design teams.
Must also have authority to work permanently in the U.S.
