The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the myriad needs of the diverse populations we serve. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities.
- The Social Work Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of the Social Work component of all ED/RETU programs for evenings/nights.
- They will report to the Associate Director of Social Work (ED/RETU) and will also work with ED leadership on policy/programming/CMS/QA related issues.
- The Social Work Supervisor manages the ED/RETU social workers who work evenings/nights and will carry a clinical assignment in the ED/RETU.
- Work Hours: The schedule will consist of four ten-hour overnight shifts per week.
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision and leadership of social workers in outcome driven initiatives.
- Provide professional and administrative leadership for social workers responsible for providing discharge planning and transitions of care services to ED/RETU patients and families.
- Participate in program and policy development and monitoring and continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in the development and implementation of ongoing staff trainings and educational programs.
- Provide clinical guidance and collaborate with Social Work Management backup and physician/nursing leadership as escalations arise (as needed)
- Represent Social Work at multiple meetings and develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of physician, nursing and case management administrative leaders.
- Exceptional ability to identify and analyze problems, to weigh the relevance and accuracy of information, to generate and evaluate alternative solutions and to make recommendations for enhancement of programs.

- Exceptional skills in engaging and assessing patients and families and in coordinating resources within family, hospital and community networks for effective management of patient care.
- Excellent clinical, collaborative, organizational, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong computer literacy including the ability to analyze program data.
- Hospital social work experience required, minimum of three years in ED/RETU preferred.
- NYS LCSW.
- Internal candidates: Minimum one year in current position.
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $103,020.00 - $131,081.90 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
