About the role

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Director of Health Services (Assisted Living Manager) is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Assisted Living unit, including supervision and scheduling of personnel, and delivery of care to assisted living residents.  Additional responsibilities include achieving occupancy goals at the facility, developing effective working relationships with residents and their families, compliance with all applicable regulations, collaboration with other Carillon staff members, and preparation and management of the annual assisted living operating budget.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure the delivery of high quality care and services to residents, consistent with Carillon standards and policies.
  • Maintain licensure and certification of the facility, ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Supervise and train Assisted Living staff to ensure the highest quality care is delivered to residents.
  • Maintain an active relationship with residents through individual and group interaction, attending resident functions and meetings, and supporting resident-centered activity programs.
  • Manage and actively participate in occupancy development through marketing and professional networking to assure targeted occupancy goals are met.
  • Participate in preparation of the annual operating budget, to include monitoring expenditures and revenue.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with representatives of government agencies responsible for surveying and inspecting the facility.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Division to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in a safe, sanitary, and attractive manner.
  • Responsible for being on-call during normal business hours as well as after hours as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive working atmosphere among staff and take corrective and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Health Services (Health Center Administrator) to report on operational issues.
  • Strive for excellence in resident satisfaction through ongoing solicitation and measurement of resident/family feedback.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the senior living care industry, including regulations associated with senior living.
  • Knowledge of best practices in the delivery of assisted living care.
  • Skill in assessing the needs of assisted living residents.
  • Skill in administering care at the assisted living level.
  • Skill in managing staff schedules and supervising staff members.
  • Skill in developing and implementing infection control and universal precaution procedures.
  • Ability to build strong, cohesive teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functional areas
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Current in Texas Assisted Living Facility Manager training requirements.
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing, Health Care Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Have at least three years of experience working in health care management or administration.
  • Experience in elder care / senior living strongly preferred.
