Position Overview 

The National Medical Director, Occupational Health will lead the strategic enhancement of core occupational health services to drive outcomes-focused performance and ensure best-in-class injury management, regulatory compliance, and workforce health strategies. This role is responsible for optimizing clinical quality, efficiency, and employer value within occupational health. 

 

Additional focus will be on integrating occupational health with advanced primary care, behavioral health, and musculoskeletal services to support whole-worker well-being. 

 

The ideal candidate is an experienced clinician and clinical leader (physician or advanced practice provider) with a strong background in occupational health, and secondary expertise in population health and care model development. This role requires a balance of strategic vision, operational excellence, and clinical expertise to drive best practices across Marathon Health’s network of employer-sponsored clinics. Clinical experience in occupational medicine is a must, with additional experience in primary care medicine preferred. 
 

Key Responsibilities 

Occupational Health Strategy & Outcomes Optimization 

  • Develop and execute a national strategy to enhance core occupational health services with an outcomes-driven approach. 

  • Lead clinical standardization and quality improvement initiatives to optimize workplace injury care, regulatory compliance, case management efficiency. 

  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Operations, Clinical Leadership, IT/Analytics, Product) to align occupational health services with employer health and safety objectives. 

  • Develop innovative injury prevention and early intervention programs to support employer goals to improve safety and lower injury rates.

Clinical Oversight & Best Practices 

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to ensure high-quality, consistent delivery of occupational health services across all sites. 

  • Define and implement best-in-class protocols for workplace injury management, return-to-work programs, worksite risk assessment, and regulatory compliance. 

  • Serve as the primary clinical advisor on occupational health-related matters, including OSHA, NIOSH, ADA, DOT, and workers' compensation requirements. 

Drive Clinical Integration with Marathon Health’s Other Services
