We are seeking a Senior Program Design Engineer to lead modifications and enhancements of Ram Air Turbine (RAT) systems- vital systems that provide emergency power for aerospace applications. In this role, you’ll provide technical leadership across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical domains—driving design improvements, ensuring product reliability, and mentoring other engineers. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape both the performance of mission-critical aerospace systems and the growth of our engineering team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and execute design modifications for existing RAT systems, including turbines, gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, actuators, and associated electrical systems.

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance on hardware analysis, system integration, and qualification testing.

  • Investigate complex hardware and system failures, identify root causes, and implement long-term corrective actions.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing, test, and quality teams to resolve technical and production challenges.

  • Ensure designs meet aerospace certification standards, customer requirements, and system safety needs.

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing guidance on engineering best practices, problem-solving approaches, and technical development.

  • Support the team in maintaining engineering discipline, documentation quality, and program execution excellence.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on aerospace systems or similar high-reliability industries.

  • Proven experience with rotating hardware, hydraulic systems, and electro-mechanical integration.

  • Strong background in product modifications, sustaining engineering, and system-level testing.

  • Track record of resolving complex manufacturing and testing issues.

  • Experience with Unigraphics (NX) or similar CAD design software
