Job Description
As a Security Officer on property, you will be focused on monitoring and patrolling assigned areas to ensure we are providing a safe environment for guests and Team Members. This individual will also look to minimize opportunities for loss or damage.
What you'll do:
- Provide a warm, visible, and reassuring security presence throughout the hotel and private residences, patrolling assigned interior and exterior areas on foot and documenting all checkpoints and actions taken.
- Anticipate, observe, and report — proactively identifying safety hazards, unsecured doors, suspicious activity, and unusual conditions, and accurately documenting them in clear, factual, timely reports and daily activity logs.
- Assist guests and residents with room and residence access in accordance with established verification and privacy standards, always protecting the confidentiality of our guests and residents.
- Serve as a calming, service-first presence in guest and Team Member concerns — using de-escalation to defuse tension.
- Respond promptly to accidents, medical situations, and emergencies; provide basic First Aid, CPR, and AED assistance within the scope of current certification; and communicate clearly with EMS and medical personnel.
- Monitor life-safety and security systems, including CCTV, fire and life-safety panels, alarms, and access-control points, and respond in accordance with established post orders and emergency procedures.
- Document and report incidents involving loss, damage, theft, or guest/resident/Team Member concerns, gathering observable facts objectively and escalating to the Director of Security or appropriate leader.
- Support emergency preparedness by participating in drills, training, and life-safety exercises, and by maintaining a thorough working knowledge of the property’s emergency response plans.
- Partner with all departments to uphold a safe and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- A genuine hospitality professional first: warm, composed, discreet, and service-oriented, with the presence and judgment to protect an ultra-luxury environment without ever compromising its grace.
- Prior experience as a Security Officer or in a comparable safety, loss-prevention, or guest-service role; experience within a luxury hotel, residential, or resort environment is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, factual, objective incident reports and communicate calmly under pressure.
- Sound judgment, situational awareness, and emotional intelligence, with a demonstrated ability to de-escalate and remain composed in dynamic situations.
- A valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holidays, consistent with the 24-hour needs of a hotel and residential community.
- Current certification in CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or the ability to obtain certification strongly desired.
- Must hold, or obtain within the timeframe required by law as a condition of continued employment, a valid Level II Non-Commissioned Security Officer registration issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
- This position is non-commissioned and unarmed. It does not require, authorize, or permit the carrying of a firearm.
