The Oregon Department of Corrections is looking for a dedicated security-minded building maintenance professional to assume the responsibilities of Facilities Maintenance Specialist. This employment opportunity is in the Physical Plant at the Warner Creek Correctional Facility (WCCF) located in Lakeview. This recruitment may be used to establish a list of qualified applicants.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
What will I be doing?
This position coordinates, instructs and trains skilled, semiskilled and unskilled AICs in the operation, maintenance and repair of physical plant systems, equipment and building structures within a correctional institution and performs trades work.
You will direct, instruct and coordinate work crews performing a wide variety of building trades in the completion of tasks assigned by supervisors for the repair and maintenance of the Institution physical plant. This position is responsible for completing service work orders and performing preventative maintenance scheduled through the computerized maintenance management system.
What are the Minimum Qualifications?
- Two years of: a) general building maintenance; b) carpentry; c) electrical; d) mechanical; e) painting; or f) plastering experience.
A journeyman's license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for this experience. Be sure a copy of your journeyman's license/card is attached to your application form.

Working Conditions
Working in a minimum custody adult correctional facility including daily contact with adults in custody (AIC). Working with equipment and tools.
Requirements for Employment
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
