Presbyterian is hiring a full time Health Records Specialist II.  You will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and accessible electronic clinical patient information by scanning and indexing documents while performing qualitative and quantitative analysis audits of already scanned documents to assure correct document and patient labels were provided. Finds, researches, and answers questions about records and files from authorized users. Demonstrates effective problem identification, problem solving, and priority setting skills. Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting, communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Upholds patient confidentiality while adhering to professional standards and all hospital and department policies.

Ideal Candidate:

High School diploma or GED

Minimum 2 years experience in a medical office setting, preferably HIM.

Previous EMR experience is required.

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of hospital functions and federal, state, and organizational regulations and policy that relate to Health Information Management.

Responsibilities

  • Picks up hospital records and loose documentation during floor rounds to ensure records are received and processed timely.
  • Files retrieved documents on incoming work shelves.
  • Responds to request from the medical floors to locate missing documentation.
  • Preps, scans, and indexes record batches to the correct patient, document type, and date of service.
  • Performs spot checks on documentation to ensure image is present, legible, and is indexed to the correct patient chart.
  • Performs electronic indexing via electronic work queues.
  • Performs daily and weekly maintenance on scanning equipment.
  • Boxes and stores scanned charts/documents.
  • Purges records according to retention policy.
  • Adheres to defined quality competencies per policy.
  • Performs general clerical functions such as filing, shredding, and floor rounds.
  • Abides by HIPAA privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information.
  • Monitors and reports quality and quantity of work through self-reporting.
  • Meets or exceeds productivity standards.
