TITLE

Senior Bus Driver

JOB SUMMARY 

Operates university vehicles to provide local and long-distance transportation, driving shuttle bus and motor coach, for individuals or groups of students, faculty, staff and other authorized passengers from campus to and from approved destinations, including remote parking lots.    Communicates details of the trip with supervisor, individual being transported and/or assigned chaperone, such as verifying pick-up and drop-off locations, departure times, lodging/dining arrangements and possible changes. Responsible for ensuring pre and post-trip inspection of as well as correcting deficiencies as able. Must inspect and maintain all fluid levels, to include fueling, as well as ensuring all systems operations are in order before departures and upon return at the end of shift or trip. Must ensure that the vehicle is clean and all loads are secured properly in order to maintain safety at all times. Position is not M-F, but scheduled to fit transportation needs of the University. Weekends and overnight trips are frequent. Work is performed under general supervision. Work is reviewed for overall results obtained and evaluated by a merit based program within the University Staff Performance Evaluation System.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:   Supervisor, Fleet Transportation Services

Supervises:  No supervisory responsibilities 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

1. Provides courteous client service and responds clearly, promptly and politely to guest questions, concerns or requests. 
2. Provides clients with assistance loading or unloading by offering advice on arrangement and opening and/or closing doors.
3. Safely operates shuttle buses and motor coach to provide transportation for TWU students, staff and faculty in a safe and timely manner to and from designated destination and return to the Denton Campus as scheduled in a safe, timely, and professional manner. 
4. Safely operates vans and shuttle buses to provide shuttle service for TWU students, staff and faculty in a safe and timely manner to and from designated parking lot to the designated drop off location on the Denton Campus as scheduled in a safe, timely, and professional manner. 
5. Safely operates vans, shuttle buses, and motor coach to provides individual or group transportation service for Chancellor and President or other executive-level staff and faculty to requested local and long-distance locations as scheduled in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
6. Keeps shuttle schedule running in a timely manner and as permissible, given any traffic issues as assigned. 
7. Safely and effectively operates all equipment and systems installed or provided for vehicles, including disposal of motor coach waste tanks.
8. Tracks and reports detailed daily ridership of shuttle and time worked to immediate supervisor per methodology employed by FMC Fleet Services.
9. Reports deficiencies that cannot be performed at the operator level immediately to FMC Fleet Services so the vehicle can be removed from service and diagnostics run and/or necessary repairs made.
10. Notifies Fleet Service office of any incidents, accidents, mechanical concerns while or after operating vehicle.
11. Reports any incidents or accidents to TWU Department of Public Safety (DPS), assisting in the issuance of an Incident Report. Completes necessary accident involving vehicle to Risk Management using appropriate method or form.
12. Manages emergency assistance coordination while in route or at destination and communicates information to passengers and FMC Fleet Services accordingly. 
13. Responsible for the ensuring daily upkeep, cleaning and appearance of vehicle and for reporting any major problems to direct supervisor at the end of each shift. 
14. Makes recommendations for professional cleaning or repair of interior, as needed, in daily inspection log.
15. Ensures vehicle is properly fueled at both beginning and end of shift or trip, recording all mileage and trip expenditures and/or travel documentation and receipts as required. 
16. Transports vehicles for cleaning, disposal of waste, inspec
