Description

The Department of Management in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University (SDSU)

invites applications for a tenure-track position in Entrepreneurship at the Assistant Professor level for Fall

2025. SDSU values high quality teaching and scholarship. Relatedly, the primary emphasis of the position

is on conducting high quality entrepreneurship scholarship, teaching entrepreneurship courses to support

our undergraduate and graduate specialization. The candidate will also be expected to assist with various

co-curricular activities offered through the ZIP (https://ziplaunchpad.sdsu.edu/) and the Lavin

Entrepreneurship Center (Lavin), the 2018 NASDAQ Center of Entrepreneurial Excellence

(http://lavincenter.sdsu.edu/). Filling this position will be contingent upon state funding.

The SDSU Fowler College of Business enrolls approximately 7993 undergraduate business majors and

343 graduate students pursuing both the MBA and Master of Science degrees. The Management

Department offers undergraduate in entrepreneurship, human resource management and general

management and graduate specializations in management and entrepreneurship. The Department of

Management enrolls approximately 1300 undergraduate and graduate student majors. The Management

faculty includes twenty tenured and tenure-track faculty members and several part-time lecturers. For

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or Management with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship

from an AACSB-accredited program to be considered. Well-qualified candidates will have a strong

pipeline of high-quality entrepreneurship research, demonstrated by publications in top-tier journals,

promising work in progress, and evidence of independent research contributions, along with a record of

active engagement in academic conferences. Additionally, candidates should provide evidence of

excellence in teaching entrepreneurship courses, with preference given to those with experience in

business model design and development. Well-qualified applicants will also demonstrate the ability to

engage meaningfully with the entrepreneurial community, particularly in STEM fields, fostering industry-

academic collaborations.

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working

effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.

Candidates must satisfy two or more of the eight Building on Inclusive Excellence (BIE) criteria.

Candidates that meet BIE criteria: (a) are committed to engaging in service with underrepresented

populations within the discipline, (b) have demonstrated knowledge of barriers for underrepresented

students and faculty within the discipline, (c) have experience or have demonstrated commitment to

teaching and mentoring underrepresented students, (d) have experience or have demonstrated

commitment to integrating understanding of underrepresented populations and communities into research,

(e) have experience in or have demonstrated commitment to extending knowledge of opportunities and

challenges in achieving artistic/scholarly success to members of an underrepresented group, (f) have

experience in or have demonstrated commitment to research that engages underrepresented communities,

(g) have expertise or demonstrated commitment to developing expertise in cross-cultural communication

and collaboration, and/or (h) have research interests that contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in

higher education.
