JOB SUMMARYThe Manager coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the operation of the Simulation Program. Oversees all technical and operational aspects of the Simulation Lab and its coordination within the School of Medicine Core Simulation Center. With clinical instructional staff, this position will individually or with the assistance of the area Medical Director/Educational Director develop or facilitate the implementation of educationally sound scenarios for simulation and study, act as an educational expert and/or technical liaison between clinicians and technical staff and perform functions that include but are not limited to review and deploy new simulation and infrastructure technology, conduct simulations, and repair and upgrade equipment necessary for the labs' operations. This position may also engage in special projects as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage all operational aspects of STP, including, but not limited to: • Scheduling: Ensuring adequate scheduling through oversight of Technician and/or Assistants and integrating schedule with all VUMC and specifically UME, GME and CME to allow equipment sharing and/or cadaver sharing. • Marketing: Developing marketing plans with Administrative Assistant, Directors, and marketing professionals as necessary to successfully publicize the Laband CELA for CME and other community-based events, as well as internal marketing to VU/VUMC personnel, faculty and students. • Philanthropy: Work with Directors, Program Coordinators and VU/VUMC Development personnel to seek funding sources for operations, equipment, and project development. • Curriculum Development: Act as educational expert to assist Instructors and Subject Matter Experts in creating educational content for use in simulation; develop scenario algorithms from which to program simulators. • Oversee, and run as necessary, medical simulations. • Train students, educators and staff in lab and simulation techniques. • Conduct and manage (with Directors) lab related research and development. • Create new policies and procedures as needed. • As needed, prepare the lab and bodies needed for anatomical studies by students, faculty and housestaff. • Dissect bodies for residents and faculty surgical workshops and research. • At the end of studies in the Cadaver Lab, bag all remains and label for cremation. • Develop work goals for Labconsistent with institutional and departmental goals and policies. • Plan to achieve goals or establish priorities. • Initiate changes or develop new policies, procedures and/or methods. • Help Lab and its staff to understand, share, and support the vision. • Ensure the most effective operation of Lab through program development, process improvement and coordination of processes across function. • Monitor and coordinate programs and actions. • Supervise all operational and technical aspects of the Lab with responsibility for planning, coordinating and controlling the workflow and procedures. • Coordinate the activities of one or more functions to effect unity of operation. • Adjust work schedules or project priorities to meet emergencies or changing condition. • Provide information to others (oral or written) to explain/clarify problems or issues or requests; meet with other professional/technical personnel to determine causes of a specific problem. • Participate in periodic management meetings to keep top management informed of problems and concerns. • Define and achieve financial targets for Lab operations and/or CELA technology consistent with the departmental financial plan. • Work directly with CELA leadership and staff to maintain financially viable operations. • Plan and communicate budget calendar and process. • Prepare for and attend monthly financial statement meetings along with director/ administrator.
