Accounting Specialist

Role Purpose:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Specialist who will specialize in accounts payable functions while providing broader support to the general accounting team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations. In addition to managing payables, this role will assist with month-end close processes, credit card processing, and general ledger maintenance.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Process vendor invoices, ensuring compliance to 3-way match process and Company policies.
• Prepare and process vendor payments via ACH and check disbursements.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve billing discrepancies and inquiries.
• Manage vendor accounts, including reconciliation of statements.
• Ensures credit is received for outstanding credit memos.
• Process and reconcile monthly credit card statements. Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures related to payables and general accounting processes.
• Provides back up for other accounting staff team members.
• Assist in audits by providing the required documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with internal departments to streamline accounts payable processes.
• Maintain SOP library related to role and job functions; ensure documents are current, accurate and versioned.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred; or 3-5 years business experience in accounts payables.
• Experience in a manufacturing organization a plus.
• Experience with automated AP processing and financial ERP systems a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills for vendor relations and team collaboration
