The Remote Sensing Laboratory, Nellis (RSL-N) is seeking a talented individual to join our operations located at Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas, NV. We are searching for a highly motivated individual interested in supporting the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program as a Senior Principle Training Specialist. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement training, qualification, certification, and oversight for all UAS and Counter UAS (cUAS) program development including asset/payload integration, crew resource management, mission planning and UAS asset management.
  • Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) for various UAS platforms executing flying missions for the NNSS and Strategic Partnership Program Projects. 
  • Act as lead developer of UAS training programs to include maintenance and safety of multiple UAS assets.
  • Ensures currency of all Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Energy and NNSS UAS training material to include lesson plans, qualification programs and training effectiveness tools.
  • Facilitates currency and compliance of all RPIC training records.
  • Assists RPICs as Visual Observer (VO) providing situational awareness during UAS missions.
  • Coaches and mentors all UAS and cUAS RPICs. 
  • Processes, analyzes and delivers sensor data collected from UAS missions to customers.
  • Continuously develop with sensor evolution, teach UAS team and customers as a sensor subject matter expert on sensor updates and product delivery to include recommending enhanced deliverables based on the mission.
  • Develop and maintain UAS maintenance training plans.
  • Executes UAS maintenance, schedules, and reports for the UAS Program.
  • Understand UAS procurement processes
  • Participate in planning, staffing and scheduling activities; allocate resources and personnel to satisfy program and project needs
  • Create an environment where employees feel safe to raise issues, empowered to address issues, and supported to resolve issues
  • Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline staff, as required
  • Resolve multiple and any program issues as they arise
  • Take immediate action to correct reported or observed unacceptable environment, safety, health and quality conditions/behaviors
  • Regularly face conflicting and/or challenging deadlines
  • Must exhibit professionalism and discretion to internal and external customers
  • Must have professional interpersonal skills to appropriately communicate and address issues with management, headquarters customers, and federal oversight personnel
  • Must be willing and able to travel worldwide, sometimes under severe conditions, as a member of Nuclear Emergency Support Team (NEST) emergency response teams

     

  • Perform other related work as assigned by their manager.

     

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent UAS training and experience, plus a minimum of 12 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
  • 14 CFR, Part 107 Certification is required.
