About the role

The Identity engineering organization builds and manages Microsoft’s identity platform for all of Microsoft’s cloud services and products including Azure, Microsoft 365 and Xbox. We pursue big ideas that power transformational advances in security, user management, access management, identity governance, etc. Identity engineering team members have deep technical expertise, customer insights, and a clear point of view that comes from first-hand experience running very large-scale services. We are engineers, technology leaders and experts, digital transformation change agents, and customer advocates.    As a member of the Identity Provisioning team, you will build a best-in-class identity management platform, to help organizations provide their employees with secure identities to seamlessly access their apps and resources. You will help us expand our portfolio of Application Programming Interface (APIs) and services to source identities, provision identities and govern access across apps in cloud and hybrid environments. We are looking for a Software Engineer II with experience building and running mission critical cloud services. This candidate will be a technical leader who can build well architected systems and advocate software engineering best practices within the team. They will also demonstrate customer empathy, build trust with partners and coach teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop large scale distributed software services and Application Programming Interface products. 
  • Deliver well-architected systems through clear interfaces across components, code reviews, design reviews and modern software engineering practices.
  • Advocate testability, portability, monitoring, scalability, reliability, and maintainability as core parts of software delivery.
  • Leverage telemetry from service operations and customer usage to make decisions to improve quality and adoption. 
  • Communicate effectively to plan, execute and deliver results through others in the team and through cross-functional partners.
  • Mentor and coach engineers in the team to help them achieve their results and grow their career.

Qualifications

Required Qualfications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

 

  • 2+ years of experience building and operating large scale services or public cloud infrastructure

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
