About the role

This Opportunity

WSP is initiating a search for a Maintenance Scheduler to join our Questa, NM office. This person will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating preventive (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) on Water Treatment Facility or Industrial Facility process equipment. They will be scheduling and coordinating, with assistance, small project resources, subcontractors and materials, including development of problem statements, project proposals and estimates.

Your Impact

  • Assist plant maintenance personnel with Wastewater Treatment and/or Industrial Facility process equipment preventive (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM)
  • Schedule and coordinate PM and CM on Water Treatment or Industrial Facility process equipment
  • Monitor PM and CM activities to improve safety and efficiency and to capture work instructions for work order improvement
  • Assist with spare and project parts inventory management using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Provide permit validator, permit holder and permit acceptor, as needed, oversight of CM and PM duties and non-routine work when necessary
  • Assist Lead Maintenance Technician with weekly reports
  • Assist Lead Maintenance Technician with weekly maintenance effort planning
  • Schedule and coordinate project resources, subcontractors, and material shipments to facilitate timely completion of small projects.
  • Develop problem statements, project scopes, and bills of material to outline small projects for approval
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with site health and safety plans and industry best practices and applicable federal programs such as OSHA
  • Maintain facility equipment to attain facility performance in accordance with discharge permits, regulatory requirements or industry standards
  • Identify and report potential and existing site hazards, incidents, potential Fatal Risk Controls, and pSIFs
  • Assist maintenance personnel when needed in repairs and maintenance requiring two or more people
  • Participate in site meetings and handoff meetings
  • Lead maintenance staff while implementing the maintenance plan to ensure facility production or WTP effluent quality meets NPDES permit and other applicable regulatory or industry requirements
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of progressively more responsible plant maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with industrial facility computerized maintenance management systems work order generation, modification, entry and closeout.
  • Ability to work in described environment:
    • Job sites may be located at various elevations, including mountain environments at elevations of between 8,000 and 11,500 feet, depending on the site
    • Exposure to differing temperature levels, including extreme heat and extreme cold, snowy conditions 
    • Noise levels are usually loud 
    • Required use of correct PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility clothing, steel-toed work boots and anti-slip footwear devices, occasional use of a respirator is required
    • Manual dexterity required to use equipment
    • Ability to safely drive a motor vehicle and other assigned equipment
    • Lifting, moving, and carrying up to 50 lbs may be required
    • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, reaching, balancing, kneeling crouching, crawling and ascending stairs throughout facility
    • Walk the process floor and hike unimproved areas of the site, walking may exceed several miles per day
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. 
  • Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator / Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam.
