About the role

Office/Unit/Project Description 

The Office of the Ombudsman for UN Funds and Programmes provides informal conflict resolution services to all personnel of UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNOPS, and UN Women. As a neutral entity, the Ombudsman facilitates the resolution of conflicts without advocating for any party, striving to achieve mutually acceptable solutions.

The Office seeks an experienced Graphic Designer to create visually compelling newsletters, annual reports, and other strategic communication materials in alignment with its mission and branding guidelines

 

Scope of Work 

The Graphic Designer will provide creative design and layout services for a wide range of printed and digital publications and communication materials. They will be responsible for producing high-quality, visually compelling outputs that enhance the impact, clarity, and accessibility of content provided by the Office. All designs must align with the UNDP and Office of the Ombudsman branding and style guidelines, ensuring consistency and professionalism across all materials.

The outputs for each specific assignment will depend on scope of work engaged by the hiring unit. List of deliverables may include, but not limited to: 

  • Design and produce external communication materials, including the annual report, digital newsletters, brochures, and other publications.
  • Develop web- and mobile-friendly designs optimized for digital publication.
  • Create video graphics and animations for digital platforms.
  • Perform photo and graphic editing, including retouching, color correction, and image enhancement.
  • Produce other visual assets as needed, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines.

Intellectual Property & Usage Rights: All materials and outputs produced under this contract remain the exclusive property of the Office of the Ombudsman. The Office retains full rights to use, distribute, and modify the materials in accordance with applicable copyright laws. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or disclosure of any materials without prior written permission from the Office is strictly prohibited.

Institutional Arrangement

The incumbent will work closely with the Mediation Specialist and Deputy Ombudsman, and will report to the Ombudsman (head of office). This role does not include supervision of other personnel.

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful IPSA

Education        

  • Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Industrial Art, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is required.
