Title: Director, Software Development

Duties: Own and lead full life cycle delivery of large cross functional software projects spanning teams across Audible and Amazon. Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to imagine, design, develop, test, and launch software that wows our community and inspires our peers. Manage a team, including coaching and mentoring our high-performing software architects and engineers, to help them grow their skills, enhance their knowledge of our systems, and enhance their ability to get things done. Lead operational excellence of our flagship solutions and drive technical strategy across the organization. Constantly strive to raise the bar on delivery, operational excellence, performance and quality in a fast Agile environment. 10% domestic travel may be required.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Newark, NJ, USA
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a directly related field plus seven (7) years of experience as a Software Development Director or any occupation/position/title involving experience working directly within software engineering teams. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:
Four (4) years in the following:
- Working as a software engineer and strategically influencing the direction of product design and development
Three (3) years in each of the following:
- Architecting and designing new and current software systems including architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling
- Leading software architects and full stack development teams that support consumer-facing global web solutions
- Developing and deploying distributed, low latency, and high availability solutions
- Partnering with product or program management teams
- Delivering customer-driven software products at a high scale in a fast paced, technology first, rapid-growth company
