Compensation Range: $84,000 to $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

JOB SUMMARY: As a Senior Archaeologist/Project Director, this employee will coordinate and manage a variety of archaeology projects within the Western United States

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Serve as a Principal Investigator/Project Director for the project

  • Project Management

  • Conduct Class III (intensive pedestrian) cultural resources inventory

  • Independently document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs

  • Evaluate resources for NRHP-eligibility

  • Survey an average of 50 acres/8 miles per day and carry personal health and safety equipment (i.e., personal water, sunscreen, etc.) when surveying

  • Ability to work in moderate weather conditions (fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather, including rain and snow)

  • Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently, while working in a team setting

  • Ability to follow instruction and to make adjustments when provided feedback

  • Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the Western United States

  • Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and IOs/IFs in the Western United States

  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental’ s culture of safety and employee ownership.

  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed coursework leading to a degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field:

    • Crew Member – minimum 2 years of college-level coursework and completion of a field school.

    • Crew Chief – bachelor’s degree, completion of a field school, and 3 year of professional experience.

    • Field Director / Project Archaeologist – bachelor’s degree, completion of a field school, 3 years of professional experience, and is permitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards.

    • Principal Investigator – graduate degree, completion of a field school, 3 years professional experience as a Field Director, and is permitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in using tablets (Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy) to document cultural resources.
