About the role

The Position

The Grants Management and Compliance Director is a key member of the organization and is primarily responsible for compliance and management of grants and contracts awarded to Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) from government funding agencies, state and local municipalities, private foundations, partner organizations, and donor contributions.

This position reports directly to the Chief Program Officer and will collaborate closely with Executive Staff, Industry Directors, and the Finance Department., and will directly oversee the contracts team.

Requirements

BACR seeks a thoughtful, detailed-oriented and team-player candidate with exceptional communication skills and demonstrated prior knowledge and experience implementing and/or managing government awarded grants in a non-profit environment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in development/policy/relations, or a related technical field with at least 2 years of relevant experience or 5+ years of professional experience in management of government awards.
  • Strong working knowledge of US government assistance funding mechanisms, rules and regulations (2 CFR 200)

Responsibilities

Grantee Compliance

Responsible for guaranteeing compliance with funder rules and regulations including increasing internal understanding of funder and grant regulations awarded to BACR.

  • Ensuring compliance with funder rules and regulations including increasing internal stakeholder’s understanding of grant regulations and restrictions.
  • Gathering, monitoring and communicating funding agency rules and regulations, leading grant proposal kick-off meetings (narrative and budget)
  • Creating training and information content to provide guidance on funder rules and regulations to all relevant stakeholders, organizing training sessions and updating internal platforms.
  • Evaluating funder rules and regulations and determining whether grants are manageable for BACR by defining acceptable standards (as per funders' requirements), assessing non-compliance risks and advising on risk mitigation.
  • Develop internal process to review grants prior to proposal submission for viability and alignment with BACR mission.
  • Liaising with funders to solve compliance issues with adequate problem-solving skills and adequate corrective actions in accordance with funder expectations.
  • Serve as the point of contact and complete funder audit requests, work with internal departments to gather required documentation.

Grants Management

Responsible for monitoring grants awarded to the agency and being the bridge between funding agencies and internal agency departments.

  • Manage funder audit requests and obtain all necessary documentation from internal departments to satisfy audit requests.
  • Provide oversight and assistance to the Contracts team on proposal revision, to verify proposal compliance and offer advice based on knowledge and past experience with the funder/grant.
  • In collaboration with Legal, review contracts for non-negotiable items.
  • Taking the lead on grant awards/contract signature by coordinating the internal review and approval process; disseminating contract to the relevant internal departments, organizing kick off meetings with program teams;
  • Develop and maintain grant files in accordance with Uniform Grant Guidance and internal policies
  • Conduct regular internal monitoring per grant requirements including occasional field visits to monitor project implementation.
  • Monitor awarded grants for amendments and modifications.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to internal departments in the submission of grant narrative and financial reports.
  • Contribute to the grants closeout process by sharing information on internal and external closeout processes as required.
