HOURLY RANGE: $28.91 - $38.88

 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The work involves performing administrative and clerical tasks in a County Department or at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent supervises and participates in personnel matters, record keeping, preparation of reports and special assignments. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher level administrative employee. Supervision is exercised over lower level clerical employees. Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

Assists clerically in the operation of assigned department;

Assists in the coordination of the functions of the department with other departments; Assigns and supervises the work of assigned department;

Supervises and participates in preparing and maintaining records related to the department; Provides routine technical assistance and acts in an advisory capacity on varied matters; Manages data collection, analysis and reporting;

Assists in the compilation of policies and procedures;

Composes routine letters and correspondence; schedules meetings and appointments

Supervises and assists in department purchasing activities including supply requisitioning, costs and delivery of supplies and equipment;

Meets with outside vendors;

Assists in compiling department statistics, annual budget and necessary supportive data; Assists in public relations to promote department.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL

CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures of office management; good knowledge of organization and staffing methods; good knowledge of  financial and personnel recordkeeping operations and procedures; good knowledge of budgetary preparation and control; ability to plan, coordinate and supervise a small office staff; ability to make accurate analysis of facts, figures and activities; ability to develop and prepare comprehensive reports and maintain detailed records; ability to communicate effectively with staff at all organizational levels; ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions; ability to become familiar with and adapt to laws, regulations, policies and practices; tact; professional judgment; initiative; high degree of accuracy and dependability; skilled in the use of various office equipment; skilled in the use of Microsoft applications; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without
reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university
    with a Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of administrative or para-professional experience in
    financial management, business, public or personnel administration or closely related field; or
  2. B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years of administrative or para-professional experience in financial management, business,
    public or personnel administration or closely related field; or

C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

 

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting the full-time experience requirements.
