Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manages and optimizes software licenses by developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy, understanding various licensing models and contract terms to minimize costs and ensure compliance.
Conducts regular software license audits, identifies and addresses compliance gaps, and utilizes Software Asset Management (SAM) tools to track usage and deployments for accurate inventory.
Negotiates directly with software vendors, building and maintaining relationships, handling license agreements, renewals, and resolving any licensing issues that arise.
Develops and maintains internal policies and procedures related to software licensing and usage, ensuring organizational alignment with best practices.
Provides essential guidance and mentorship, offering training to stakeholders on compliance, and directing subordinate staff in license management activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree or 4 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a degree.
9+ years of experience with 5+ years of position relevant experience.
In-depth knowledge of software licensing models, contract terms, and industry best practices.
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification, which includes any of the following: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, and SSCP.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with software asset management (SAM) tools.
Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to software licensing.
International Association of IT Asset Management (IAITAM) Software Asset Management Certification, Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), or similar certification.
Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active secret clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
