Interim Senior Accounting Manager

THE COMPANY:  

• A privately owned investor and developer of industrial properties in the Western and Central United States.

THE WORK:  

• Looking for an Accounting Manger or Sr. Accounting Manager with strong audit background from the BIG 4 to help with YE close, audit coordination with EY, and financial reporting. 

• looking for year-end support person for our fund finance and accounting team 

• The ideal candidate would have 2-5 total years of experience, with 3 years as an auditor at a big 4 firm.   

• Must haves: 

• BIG 4 experience 

• Be willing to go onsite 3 days / week in Newport Beach (close to John Wayne airport)   

• Nice to have:  

• Private equity fund accounting 

• Real estate investment accounting 

• PE/ Fund accounting  

• Find the right fit that can hit the ground running  

• Fund Controllers  

• Nuanced accounting: 

• Fair value accounting –  Real Estate “RE” assets appraised annually and quarterly  

• Not working with traditional historical costs  

• Assets are carried at fair value 

• Hypothetical liquidation  

• Waterfall models  

• Quarterly financial reporting that goes to investors  

• Capital calls and distributions  

• Mgmt. fee application 

• Operational and technical accounting  

• Familiarity with PE fee structures  

• Great if they have RE focus  

• Quarterly closes: 

• Needs more documentation – at about 70% of where they want it to be  

• Caprock does use a fund administrator – helping with SOPs and documentation 

• Consultant will not be on an island, they will support and work with an established team 

• Team: 4 internally on fund accounting team –  

• 2 Fund Controllers  

• Accounting Manager  

• Sr. Accountant  

• Administrator – Has a whole stable of support staff  

• Quarter end close 

• Similar to ME close – Follow up with fund administrators  

• A lot of this will be mapped up  

• ID any issues  

• RE background would be helpful  

• What systems?  

• Yardi – really nice to have  

THE CONSULTANT: 

• Expert at excel  

• Great at communication 

• Communicate with all teams succinctly  

• Going through some growing pains  

• Not an “institutional” environment  

• Fast-paced, hands -on 

THE PROCESS: 

• Duration: December 2nd – April 15th  

• Onsite 3 days per week in Newport Beach (close to John Wayne airport)   

• Meetings with Evan (Fund Controller) and with Craig  

• Budget: open   

Requirements

Hourly consulting rate range is DOE $75/hr and up
