Our facility is conveniently located for residents in the fastest-growing area of the Treasure Coast. Since 1995, the facility in St. Lucie West has provided access to vital medical care. Here, you will work alongside passionate physicians, nurses and other caregivers in a family-oriented, supportive environment.

Martin Health at St. Lucie West’ Emergency Department has multi-disciplinary care teams and leading-edge technology needed to diagnose and treat patients efficiently and effectively, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Emergency Department is a great place for caregivers who want to work with diverse populations of patients and develop a wide skillset treating a variety of medical problems. This department is team-oriented and committed to supporting you as you discover, learn, and grow. The opportunities here are endless with a shared governance model, certifications and leadership growth into Charge Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager roles.   

A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. with six weekend shifts required within a six-week period.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 
  • Educate patients and their families.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing 
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 
  • One year of current acute care RN or ED experience. Will consider military RN experience 
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or willing to obtain within one year of employment   
  • New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
