Introducing a new, quick-shop store format designed to provide customers in urban neighborhoods a quick, convenient shopping experience with easier access to the fresh, high-quality offerings they expect from Whole Foods Market. The new format, called Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, will initially launch on the Upper East Side in Manhattan.
Ranging between 7,000 to 14,000 square feet, Whole Foods Market Daily Shop will provide a convenient option for grab-and-go meals and snacks, weekly essentials, and a quick, easy destination to pick up ingredients to complete a meal with all items meeting our rigorous Quality Standards. Though smaller, the stores will still offer customer favorites, including an ample selection of fresh, seasonal produce, meat and seafood, prepared foods like sandwiches and pre-packed meals, breads, alcohol, and supplements, as well as a handpicked range of local specialties and our own 365 by Whole Foods Market brand. In addition, the location that is expected to open this year will be the first Whole Foods Market store in Manhattan to offer Juice & Java, a venue for coffee, tea, fresh pressed juices, smoothies, sandwiches, soups and various desserts.

Manage all aspects of Daily Shop format store operations, leading a scaled down leadership team, production, and team member base. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members. Responsible for advancing Daily Shop values, goals, and programs.

Responsibilities:

• Support Daily Shop Store Leader in all aspects of store operations, including acting as a shift leader and providing clear guidance to Retail Floor Team Members.  

• Foster a positive environment of teamwork, respect, and high morale. Support and models WFM (Whole Foods Market) vision and goals.  

• Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and coaches Retail Team Members to maintain a high-performance team and reduce turnover.  

• Ensuring Retail Floor Team Members complete required training within designated deadlines.  

• Provide timely feedback to Daily Shop Team Leader and assist with conducting Team Members job dialogues on time.  

• Support Daily Shop store Leader in efficiently operating the store to achieve all sales, labor, budgeted expense targets and contribution goals.  

• Support front-end responsibilities including cash handling, staffing and operational efficiency to customer wait times.  

• Maintain and support overall store cleanliness and maintenance.  

• Adhere to Daily Shop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).   

• Follow WFM’s food safety, organics, and cleaning and maintenance guidelines, promptly addressing hazards or violations.   

• Participate in fiscal period and quarter end inventories.  

• Stay informed on company and store level information and communications from Operational Area and Daily Shop Team Leader.  

• Model and cultivate effective cross-store communication, including required morning and evening store huddles.  

• Support and back up the Inventory Data Specialist with receiving and SSS (Store Scanning Specialist) duties, including accurate retail pricing and proper signage throughout the store.  

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Proven experience meeting all customer service expectations and standards when interacting with customers, vendors, and fellow Team Members  

• Will be cross-trained and Provide support across all areas of the store. 

• Food safety certification, if not currently certified, will commit to completing certification within 6 months of hire.  

• Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management. 

• Proper use of, which may include but not limited to, knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six-wheel carts, baler (must be 18 years of age or older) and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and store.  

• Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
