The Nuclear Operations Directorate has an opening supporting the Sentinel program (Formally known as Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD)) with their software-intensive system acquisition.
Work Model
The position will be located at Hill Air Force Base (AFB) about 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City. This is an on-site position.
What You Will Be Doing
- Direct support to the Aerospace associate principal director leading our support to our local Air Force customer
- Coordinate and lead reach-back tasking of Aerospace’s matrixed Engineering Technical Group (ETG) workforce and other Aerospace locations as required
- Capability to work independently in providing your software engineering expertise to co-located AFNWC/NX staff and leadership on-site at Hill AFB
- Provide front-line engagement to USAF Sentinel Software leadership up to and including O-6/GS-15 level
- Apply thorough safety-critical software engineering guidance to the Sentinel program
- Participating in technical interchange and working group meetings to support software development and test planning, design, and execution including the IV&V of software in support of meeting system level requirements
- Coordinate and present technical and project status briefings to management and customers
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to disseminate findings, guidance, and technical information
- Build proactive relationships as a liaison for The Aerospace Corporation to Air Force and contractor personnel
- This requires less than 25% travel
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
- Typically 12+ years of industry or USAF/DoD experience managing the development and testing of mission critical DoD embedded systems software in a large team of diverse customer and contractor professionals
- Experience on safety-critical software intensive programs
- This position requires a Secret clearance or SCI access and willingness to maintain. A security clearance is issued by the US government and US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
- Willing to travel domestically, approx. 25%
- Current, or ability to acquire SAP accesses
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following:
- Masters or Ph.D. degree in a STEM field
- Experience managing and developing embedded systems software on successful software-intensive DoD MDAP or ACAT I acquisition programs
- Current TS/SCI
