This role supports the Small Commercial Team in underwriting. Responsibilities include assisting with guidelines, coverage wordings, training, audits, and compliance. It involves leading strategic initiatives for growth, profitability, and operational excellence across Small Commercial, Middle Market, and Entertainment. The role oversees complex projects across underwriting, product, distribution, and technology, translating business strategy into actionable plans and ensuring alignment across stakeholders. Domestic travel will be required (15-25%).

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Initiative Leadership

  • Own end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives such as product expansions, digital platform enhancements, underwriting transformation, or distribution partnerships.
  • Define business goals, success metrics, timelines, and resource plans for each initiative.
  • Act as the primary business lead for assigned initiatives, ensuring alignment with segment strategy and senior leadership priorities.


Project Management & Execution

  • Lead project planning, execution, and implementation in coordination with business and technical teams.
  • Establish and manage project governance structures including charters, roadmaps, risks, and reporting.
  • Ensure timely delivery of milestones through strong project discipline, stakeholder engagement, and issue resolution.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between underwriting, product, operations, distribution, technology, and analytics teams to ensure integrated execution.
  • Facilitate workshops, business requirement sessions, and feedback loops to drive consensus and clarity.
  • Manage communications and updates to stakeholders and executive sponsors throughout the initiative lifecycle.


Change Management & Operational Readiness

  • Drive change management efforts including training, communication, and adoption plans for new workflows, products, or tools.
  • Partner with operations, underwriting support, and technology to ensure seamless rollout and business readiness.
  • Monitor post-implementation performance and ensure sustainability of results.


Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Use data and analytics to track initiative outcomes, measure impact, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Document lessons learned and implement best practices across future initiatives.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in business, insurance, project management, or similar field (MBA, PMP, CPCU preferred).
  • 7–10 years in insurance or financial services; 3–5 years in program/project management.
  • Knowledge of small commercial and lower middle market insurance products, underwriting, and distribution.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, JIRA, Smartsheet, MS Project.
  • Strategic and results oriented.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$107,900 - $145,700/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
