About the role

The Business Development & Marketing Director is responsible for development and implementation of public relations/marketing programs, promotions, and internal/external communications: and serving as liaison with the hospital community (physicians and their office staffs; community residents, schools, churches and civic groups; area employers; legislators; other health-care and human -service providers; and media) to build a constituency of support for the hospital and facilitate the hospital's ability to meet the public's needs in addition to seeking collaborative opportunities to improve the quality of life of residents within the hospital's service area.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develops and executes marketing plans and programs to ensure the profit growth and expansion of the organization's products/services.
  • Directs the identification and evaluation of special studies relative to the development of new services and programs.
  • Supports facilities in liaison with external entities that influence organization's services, programs, and facilities.
  • Maintains relationships and secures competitive information on products and services in order to maintain and develop market share.
  • Develops and implements communication strategies, plans, and materials consistent with the organization's marketing image.
  • Consults with members of management in order to maintain a consistent public image.
  • Directs publicity releases consistent with public relations objectives and develops and maintains positive relations with local media.
  • Represents the organization at major public events.
  • Carries out the personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.
  • Supports the organization's strategic business development efforts, including preparing proposals, RFP's and presentations.
  • Directs the organization's public relations effort.
  • Conducts market research, analysis, and reporting activities relevant to the organization's mission, philosophy, and goals.
  • Performs related duties, as requested.
  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in English, journalism, marketing or other related discipline, masters degree preferred.
  • Required Licenses: None
  • Experience: 5 years experience in community development, public relations/corporate and crisis communications in healthcare marketing and/or community relations required. Behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Additional: Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Knowledgeable of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health and regulations pertaining to psychiatric nursing and the treatment of the mentally and emotionally disturbed patients.
    • Displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions common to acute psychotic as well as non-violent crises intervention practice, medical and psychiatric emergency procedures.
    • Communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and function calmly in situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy.Provide prompt, efficient, and responsive service.
    • Ability to exercise appropriate judgment in answering questions and releasing information; analyze and project consequences of decisions and/or recommendations.
    • Excellent written and oral communication English skills; skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process-oriented and didactic groups.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, proposals and grant submissions. Ability to effectively present information both electronically and in person and respond to questions from clients, customers and the general public.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions. Ability to effectively plan sales strategy. Ability to negotiate and build relationships.
