Supervisor, Advanced Practice Providers - Urgent Care

Leadership role: Supervise a group of advanced practice providers (APPs: nurse practitioners and physician assistants) in specialties or divisions in order that the highest levels of quality, service, and cost-effective care are provided to patients and families. Develop and coordinate clinical orientation, continued competency, and optimal professional development for the NP/PA team. Lead the hiring process for APPs, in collaboration with service line leaders and clinical teams. Represent the APPs at both the division/service line/value stream and APP leadership group levels. Communicate and coordinate organizational and department/division goals for the APP teams. Drive continuous performance improvement, quality improvement, and education and research efforts delivered by the APP team (generally 20% of FTE).
Clinical role: APPs in Urgent Care work independently with a collegial and collaborative team of other APPs, physicians, and nurses providing direct care to patients presenting to the urgent care with acute illness and injury. The APP consults with specialty services and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high-quality care. The Urgent Care APP supports SCH system improvements to meet departmental and organizational goals.
This role can be filled at an FTE level from .75 through a 1.0 FTE, driven by candidate preference.
Required Education/Experience:
For NPs: Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program
For NPs in the critical care role: Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in acute care
For PAs: Graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program
Required Credentials:
For NPs:
Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington
Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner
For PAs:
Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington
Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
For All Providers:
Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.
Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.
Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's. Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies. Preferred
Experience in a leadership or health care management role.
Five years experience in the NP role.
Three years experience in pediatric health care.
Compensation Range
$131,821 - $193,872 per year
10% stipend for supervisory duties.
Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
