About the role

Project Accountant, PVJ 

The Project Accountant is responsible for providing complete and accurate accounting and analysis for multiple business unit projects. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to: contract review and project setup, invoice preparation, and project analysis and reconciliation. The Project Accountant will interact with all levels of the business unit and finance staff. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Document production system (Jurisdictional Online) operational activity and reconcile project-level detail to accounting system (Flex/Core) on weekly basis after backlog is reconciled. 

  • Recognize prior period project revenue accounting misstatements and prepare and correct records in system 

  • Create new projects in project management system based on client contract requirements and billing terms 

  • Create and maintain electronic project files containing all client and project-related contracts and documentation.  

  • Review business unit work in progress with project and business unit managers to determine client billing amounts 

  • Generate and distribute client invoices and supporting documentation 

  • Provide support to the business unit and finance groups 

  • Provide analysis of business unit month-end results identifying the drivers of variance to budget, forecast, and prior year 

  • Communicate with project and business unit managers as well as finance department leadership 

  • Ensure information in the project management system is accurate and aligned with department and client needs 

  • Manage deadlines to ensure invoicing, reporting, analysis and projects are completed by established due dates 

  • Resolve internal and external customer inquiries 

  • Perform other financial duties and projects as assigned by department management 

Knowledge, skills, and experience: 

  • Bachelor degree in accounting/business-related area or equivalent experience 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Proficient in computer skills, and conversant with MS Word and Excel 

  • Preferred: two or more years of experience in similar function
