SUMMARY
The Local Truck Driver position will handle local deliveries within a specific area with care, professionalism, and precision. 

$22.50–$27.50 per hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drives semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more.
    P&D locally 
  • Backs trailers to customer dock.
  • Maintains compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
  • Communicates with customer representatives in pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
  • Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers.
  • Complies with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing).
  • Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle.
  • Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
  • Swings and secures trailer doors.
  • Performs other duties as required.
     
    Qualifications & Work Experience 
  • CDL A License Required
  • A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years.  3+ years CDL A driving experience preferred.
  • Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41.
  • Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care.
  • Detail-oriented / mindset required.
  • Must have a TWIC or eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days, if required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of a truck driver, the employee is required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle. The employee must use hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on-board equipment. The role also requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, climb in and out of the cab and trailer, and occasionally stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch during inspections, coupling/uncoupling, or loading/unloading activities. The employee must be able to communicate effectively using verbal and hearing skills, often via CB radio or mobile devices. Vision requirements include the ability to see at a distance for safe driving, as well as close vision for reading documents, using electronic logs, and performing inspections.

  • Frequently carry, push, or pull freight weighing 1-125 pounds
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level
  • Shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals, not applicable on all trucks
  • Frequently squat or crouch to handle and position freight
  • Climb in and out of over-the-road tractor, 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing.
