Senior Tax Specialist- REMOTE

The Senior Tax Specialist works as an experienced resource for the Payroll Operations Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing advanced level payroll tax tasks. They will communicate with clients, tax agencies, and internal teams to resolve outstanding tax matters. This position requires an understanding of payroll tax concepts and taxation rules.

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

• Handles daily payroll tax liability imports and reconciliation
• Review and submit daily cash collection and deposits of payroll tax liabilities
• Creating and submitting original and/or amended tax returns to various tax agencies
• Participate in quarter-end and year-end activities, specifically the preliminary audit to ensure taxes will be filed correctly
• Determine tax adjustments needed to correct employee taxation due to various circumstances
• Process client payroll deactivations including returning unpaid tax funds
• Assist in the training and mentoring of newly onboarded Tax Specialists
• Research and resolve urgent/escalated payroll tax issues timely
• Lead in completing special projects and/or other duties assigned
• Testing and troubleshooting system and software updates

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• Bachelor Degree Required
• CPP or FPC certification Preferred 
• 4-6 years of  payroll tax experience
• Attention to detail
• Ability to independently solve problems using root-cause analysis
• Actively communicate with clients and internal stakeholders on a regular basis
• Ability to adapt to change and varying job responsibilities
• Effectively manage time and self-start projects
• Prior experience in a payroll service bureau or payroll tax role
• Strong work ethic
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.Pay Range$72,000—$115,000 USD
